Flowers and moss

Just a couple of the things we spotted at the park yesterday. The yellow flowers are blooming around an old, wrecked barn. This type of tree is abundant, and each tree is covered with moss and lichens. The thorns/spikes are about an inch long, and the seed pods are about a foot long. Strangely beautiful…

With you in thinking the tree is strange but pretty….my question what kind of tree is it? My brother has one on his property and those thorns are really long!
