Is White Really a Color?

She graduated from high school last year and is going off to college a few hours away. He’s a high school senior, and staying here. They’ve been dating for a couple of years and now have to figure out how to make it work. I pulled the flowers out of the field so he could give them to her, and she kept them after the shoot. Is white really a color? Does true love last? I don’t know the answer to either question, but as far as the second one, I know I’m pulling for them.

I Heart Faces–Pets

It’s Pet Week at I Heart Faces… yippee! I love Pet Week, and I also kind of dread Pet Week, because I LOVE taking pictures of animals. My dog, other dogs, horses, birds, lizards, rats, bugs, squirrels… ANY critter that gets within snapping distance of my lens is fair game, and I WILL shoot! So trying to actually CHOOSE a pet picture is pretty much agony for me. This time around, I have a lot of fresh photos of my sweet girl, Blackie Sue, and I really came close to picking one of those. But this photo won out, because I know how much this girl means to her mama and daddy. Incredibly beautiful and hip young couple, and their biggest request was that I get good pics of the pup. Who happens to be, by the way, VERY camera-shy; it wasn’t an easy task. I did end up with some “family photos” as well as some cute ones of the couple “framing” her, but I think this candid shot ended up being my favorite one. Can you tell how much her daddy loves her? She’s a lucky girl… :

Even if you don’t usually visit I Heart Faces to check out the entries, I think you’ll want to do that this week. People pull out ALL the stops during Pet Week, and there will be some incredible, sweet, and funny photos! So, after you leave me a little love, head on over and check out the rest!

Imagine looking through the eyes of a child….

If I could see the world,
Through the eyes of a child.
What a wonderful world this would be.
There’d be no trouble and no strife,
Just a big happy life.
With a bluebird in every tree.

I could see right, no wrong.
I could see good, no bad.
I could see all the good things,
In life I’ve never had.
If I could see the world,
Through the eyes of a child.
What a wonderful world this would be.

If I could see the world,
Through the eyes of a child.
Smiling faces would greet me all the while.
Like a lovely work of art,
It would warm my weary heart,
Just to see through the eyes of a child.

I could see right, no wrong.
I could see good, no bad.
I could see all the good things,
In life I’ve never had.
If I could see the world,
Through the eyes of a child.
What a wonderful world this would be.

You’ve Got a Friend….

The theme for the I Heart Faces photo contest this week is “Friends”. My boy started middle school today, and it’s a lot harder to get “friend” photos these days. He really doesn’t want me dragging my big camera around, and I don’t have one of those nifty phones with the great cameras. So, I slip my point and shoot in my pocket and hope for the best. This is his friend J; they’ve been in Scouts together since they were six, and now they’re 11. J and his brother were given this boat and have been working to clean it up; he was pretty stoked to let his friend “try it out”, even if it was on dry land. :
